TORONTO, Ont. (Jan. 30, 2024) - Andrew Nembhard and Shy Day-Wilson have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Jan. 29-Feb. 2.
With newly-named All-Star starter Tyrese Haliburton still out for the Indiana Pacers with an injury, Canadian product Andrew Nembhard had a strong week to keep the Pacers on track. Nembhard averaged 18 points and eight assists over a four-game stretch, leading the Pacers to a 3-1 record over the span of the week. His performances included a standout 22-point game in a tight win over the Phoenix Suns.
Amidst the chaos that is ACC conference play in the NCAA, Canadian player Shy Day-Wilson hit her 100th career three-pointer against an excellent UNC. Day-Wilson has been averaging 10.9 points per game on a 44.2 field goal percentage this season for Miami. Their latest win came over a feisty Duke team on January 28, where Day-Wilson scored a team-high 17 points on 50 percent shooting against her former team. Day-Wilson had an excellent showing for the U23 team over the summer during GLOBL JAM.
