Nirra Fields and Kevin Pangos have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for April 19-25.
Playing professionally in Turkey, Fields led Antalya 07 to a pair of victories, while averaging 40 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 3.5 steals. In 27 games this season, the 5’9” guard is averaging 32.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Fields was a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree during her four year career at UCLA before being drafted in the 3rd round (32nd overall) in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury. After a season in Turkey, Fields joined UNI Gyor in Hungary for the 2017-18 season and was named the All-Hungarian League Guard of the Year and Import Player of the Year. The Montreal, Que. native has spent nine years with Canada after making her debut at the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Women. Fields last represented Canada at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018.
Kevin Pangos continued his strong play this season as he led BC Zenit Saint Petersburg to a split with Barcelona in their first two quarter-finals games of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. The 6’1” guard averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds on his way to being named co-MVP of the Week for the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs. Pangos scored a game-high 19 points, making all three of his two-point attempts while knocking down 4 of 6 three-pointers in Zenit’s 76-74 victory to open the series. He followed it up with another game high, 23 points, as Barcelona evened the series. Pangos, who spent four years at Gonzaga, has played professionally in Spain, Lithuania, and most recently, Russia. Pangos was a member of Team Canada that competed at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China.
