TORONTO, Ont. (Sept. 25, 2023) - Prince Oduro and Kayla Alexander have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Sept. 11-17.
Oduro had a strong season opener for HARKO Merlins Crailsheim in Germany, leading the team in scoring with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, as well as eight rebounds along with a steal. The Toronto, Ont. native was a member of the 31-man roster that helped Canada qualify for the FIBA World Cup 2023, most recently dressing for the senior team in February in the final window of qualifying against Venezuela and Argentina.
Alexander helped french side Bourges Basket open the new season with with an 88-70 win over Landes. The Syracuse grad put together a double-double performance dropping 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, to go with 12 rebounds. The 6'4" center, hailing from North York, most recently helped Canada capture a bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in Mexico this past summer.
