TORONTO, Ont. (January 10, 2023) - For the opening week of 2023, Kassius Robertson and Sami Hill have been named Toyota Canada Players of the Week for their performances during December 30, 2022 to January 7th, 2023.

Robertson was a go-to option for Monbus Obradoiro, a Spanish team in the ACB League, recording back-to-back 28 and 18-point performances. Robertson’s 28 points were a season-high. The Toronto product was pivotal in Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team’s play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers this fall — including scoring 16 points in the team’s 94-56 win over Venezuela to punch their ticket to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Hill starred for Eigner Angels Nördlingen of the Germany DBBL, registering 26 points in a narrow 77-69 defeat to Freiburg. She was 8-9 from the free-throw line and added in four assists. Hill last represented Canada in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, where the Women’s National Team finished fourth in Australia — the best finish at a World Cup since 1986.
