Sadler, Achonwa Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (July 3, 2024) - Miles Sadler and Natalie Achonwa have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 1-5.

This week, the U17 Men’s National Team is in Istanbul, Turkey, for the FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup. After going 2-1 in group play, they are set to play in the Round of 16 for a spot in the quarterfinals. Miles Sadler, who had a standout 30-point & seven-assist performance in a win against Egypt, has led the team in both of those areas through the first three games (16.7 ppg, 5.7 apg).

It’s been a historic week for Natalie Achonwa, who was named to her fourth Olympic appearance with the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team. Achonwa returned to action last week in Victora, British Columbia, where the SWNT played an exhibition game against Portugal. Achonwa scored 16 points and seven rebounds in the win, her first basketball game since the team qualified for the Olympics back in February. She will look to make history with Canada as their Captain at her final Olympic Games.
