Scrubb, Konig named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (February 28, 2023) - Phil Scrubb and Aislinn Kong have been named Toyota Canada Players of the Week for February 20 - 26.

Scrubb was instrumental for Canada in the team’s sixth and final window of FIBA World Cup qualifying this past week. The former Carleton Raven recorded double-digit points in Canada’s pair of games, helping the Men’s National Team finish with a FIBA best 11-1 record. Scrubb finished with 14 points, five assists and three rebounds in the team’s 74-57 win over Venezuela — capping off a 12-game qualifying window in which he and brother Thomas suited up in every single contest for Canada.

Konig led the way for Club Jairis Alcantarilla in their 78-74 win over Kutzabank Araski, tallying 16 points, with 12 of which coming from beyond-the-arc. The Vancouver product also tallied two assists. König suited up for Canada this past fall at the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Australia, where she helped the Women’s National Team to a fourth-place finish.
