TORONTO,Ont. (October 29, 2024) – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Niyah Becker have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Oct 21-27.

The Oklahoma City Thunder started off the regular season undefeated going 3-0, with Gilgeous-Alexander averaging 29 points, nine rebounds and six assists. This past Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks, the Hamilton-native came close to a triple double and finished the game with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, along with three steals and three blocks. He last represented Canada on the Senior Men’s National Team at the Paris Olympics in August.

This past Sunday, the IDK Euskotren based in the Spainish Women’s Basketball league took on the Celta Zorka and ultimately fell short 60-66. Winnipeg-native Becker contributed with a team-high 13 points, one rebound and one assist in the loss, falling to a 4-3 record. Becker last represented Canada at the Globl Jam tournament in 2023, and was most recently invited to the 2024 Senior Women’s National Team Olympic tryout in Victoria, BC this past summer.
