Team Canada Takes Place In Bucharest As Female Series FIBA ​​3x3 Continue

BUCHAREST (August 11, 2019)  - Team Canada won its second title of the FIBA ​​Women's Series 3x3 in a row at the ninth stage in  Bucharest  on August 10th and 11th.

After winning their first ever FIBA ​​3x3 Women's Series title in Prague earlier this month, Canada continued at the same pace in Romania this weekend. After a first defeat against Russia (21-11), Canada recovered with a landslide victory over the Czech Republic (22-3).

Katherine Plouffe, Michelle Plouffe, Paige Crozon and Mariah Nunes represented Canada this weekend and started the tournament as No. 7 seed. Canada then took on Spain and Poland in the finals for to offer a revenge against Russia in the final. This time it was Canada who led the proceedings for the 21-15 victory over the No. 2 seeds.

Michelle Plouffe finished top scorer with nine points in the final and won the MVP title with 45 points in just six games.

The FIBA ​​3x3 Women's Series is the first FIBA ​​3x3 competition dedicated to women. Each national federation may enter a team in the FIBA ​​3x3 Women's Series. Teams then qualify for individual events based on the number of events allocated to them and the team's ranking.

Canada is slowly coming back to France (570 points) and is second only to second place (410). Italy is currently in third place with 350 points.

Canada finished in the first four teams at each of the five tournaments in which the country participated this season.

The stage of the Women's Series of Bucharest is the ninth event of the FIBA ​​3x3 Women's Series 2019. The 2019 season will be between 8 and 12 tournaments from May to September. The next leg will be held in  Xiong'an  on August 22-23. All matches will be broadcast live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube Channel  .

Canada is currently ranked 28 th  (5 th Americas) in the ranking of the Federations FIBA 3x3.
