TORONTO, Ont. (September 24th, 2024) – Thomas Kennedy and Laeticia Amihere have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for September 16– 22.
Over the past week, Kennedy suited up for German-side Telekom Baskets Bonn’s in the Basketball Champions League season with a pair of victories over MoraBanc Andorra (99-91) and the Dinamo Sassari (78-71). The Windsor native averaged 12.5 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while, shooting 91.7% from the field (11 out of 12) during the first two regular season games. Kennedy last competed with Canada in the FIBA Men’s AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers, leading Canada to a win on home soil over Nicaragua, 96-51.
The Atlanta Dream faced off against the New York Liberty in game one of the WNBA playoffs, with the Liberty taking the victory by a final score of 83-69. Despite the loss, Amihere recorded her highest scoring game since the preseason with 8 points and 5 rebounds. This marks Amihere’s second year playing in the WNBA; she was selected eighth overall in the first round of the 2023draft and was most recently named two-time Olympian with the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team.
