TORONTO, Ont. (Nov. 15, 2022) - Thomas Scrubb and Yvonne Ejim have been named Canada Basketball Toyota Canada Players of the Week for November 7 – 13.
Scrubb helped Canada qualify for the FIBA World Cup 2023 this past week as the Senior Men’s National Team came away with a pair of victories over Venezuela and Panama to move to 10-0. Scrubb started in both games for the team that played in Edmonton, averaging 8 points, four rebounds, 4.5 assists, two steals and one block across both games. The Senior Men’s National Team now looks ahead to the sixth and final window of World Cup Qualifiers in February as they’ll take on Argentina, and have a rematch against Venezuela to end the campaign.
Ejim is coming off a dominant performance in NCAA women’s basketball competition as she led the Gonzaga Bulldogs to an 80-54 win over Long Beach State. Dropping a game-high 22 points, Ejim shot 9-of-13 from the floor to go along with 10 rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes of action in the teams’ home opener. Ejim most recently competed for Canada at the inaugural GLOBL JAM tournament hosted in Toronto where the U23 Women’s National Team were crowned champions.
