Vasean Allette and T’yana Todd are our Canada Basketball Toyota Canada Players of the Week for June 6 - June 13.
It was a fantastic tournament for Vasean who represented Canada for the first time in his career at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2022 in Tijuana, Mexico. Averaging 18.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game, Vasean led Canada to a bronze medal finish at the tournament enroute to being named to the tournament all-star five team. The 6’3 point guard, hailing from Scarborough, Ont., was named an MVP at the most recent BioSteel all-Canadian game. Vasean currently attends United Scholastic Academy with his eyes set on prospective colleges in the NCAA next season.
Representing Canada at the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022, T’yana Todd pushed Canada to a strong opening game performance, defeating Mexico 68-40. T’yana dropped 16 points, shooting 4-of-6 from behind the arc, to go along with two rebounds and a steal in the victory. A 6’0 guard from Toronto, Ont., T’yana was a 2022 McDonald’s All-American game nominee, and was selected to participate at the 2022 BioSteel All-Canadian Game. After competing for IMG Academy in Florida, T’yana recently committed to the Boston College Eagles.
