PRAGUE, Czech Republic (August 6, 2023) - The Canadian Women’s 3x3 Team defeated France 20-17 to win their second straight FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop. Coming off a series stop victory in Edmonton last weekend, Kacie Bosch, Katherine Plouffe, Michelle Plouffe and Jamie Scott were undefeated in five games to win the Prague series stop.

Michelle Plouffe captured her second straight series stop MVP, finishing with a Top Player Value of 44.4 to lead all players at the series stop. She also finished as the event leader in points scored (46), highlights (24), and key assists (11), while finishing second in rebounding (22).

Katherine Plouffe led all players with 38 rebounds and finished second in Top Player Value (32.4).

Michelle Plouffe closed the event with a dominant 15-point effort in the final as Canada came back to take over in the final minute of the game and defeat France to capture the event series stop.

She also added five rebounds, four key assists, a block and seven highlights. Katherine Plouffe had eight rebounds as Canada outrebounded France 17-13 in the win.

Though Canada took an early 3-1 lead, France quickly came back and the teams traded baskets until a drive from Anna Ngo Ndjock moved France in front by two, 15-13, with two minutes remaining. A bucket for France’s Coline Franchelin made it 16-13 France, but the Plouffe sisters quickly jumped into action.

After Katherine Plouffe scored to get Canada within two, Michelle Plouffe scored inside while being fouled. She made one of two free throws to tie the game at 17 points apiece, while also getting the offensive rebound off of her second missed free throw. After scoring again, Canada regained the lead, 18-17. After a miss for France, Michelle Plouffe scored on a drive to give Canada a lead of two with 36 seconds remaining as France ran out of time to complete a comeback.

Canada advanced to the final after outlasting Spain 13-10 in a hard-fought semifinals battle. Katherine Plouffe had eight points and 10 rebounds in the win, while Michelle Plouffe added five points, four rebounds and six highlights.

With Canada trailing by one, Katherine Plouffe scored on her own offensive putback while being fouled. After making a free throw to complete the two-point play, she moved Canada in front 9-8, with 3:30 remaining. Michelle Plouffe scored to make it a two-point game for Canada until Spain’s Sandra Ygueravide scored with 10 seconds remaining to get Spain within a point, 11-10.

With Spain unable to stop the clock, Canada ran the clock down until Michelle Plouffe was fouled with 0.9 seconds on the clock. She made both free throws to seal the three-point victory for Canada.

Earlier in the day, Canada defeated Lithuania 21-17 in the quarterfinals behind an 11-point effort from Michelle Plouffe and six points, five rebounds and three highlights from Katherine Plouffe.

Canada’s defence helped to force Lithuania into 11 turnovers and they took advantage. Canada attempted 29 shots in the win (making 16), compared to Lithuania’s 17 field goal attempts (making 10).

With the game tied at seven points apiece with seven minutes remaining, Canada used a 7-0 run to break the game open and double up Lithuania 14-7 with 5:18 remaining. They went on to victory from there.
