12 Athletes Selected For Senior Women's National Team Asia Exhibition Series

EDMONTON, AB (July 25, 2018) - Canada Basketball announced today the 12 athletes who will represent Canada in a four-game Asia Exhibition series in China and Japan from August 1-7.

As preparations continue ahead of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018, Canada will face 10th ranked China and 13th ranked Japan.  At the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017, Japan (champions) and China (3rdplace) both qualified for this September's World Cup.

Steve Baur (Canada Basketball) will assume head coaching duties for the series and will be joined by fellow assistant Carly Clarke (Ryerson University).

"It is a great opportunity to play against other teams heading to the World Cup later this summer." said Baur.  "Facing China at home then heading to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games site to play Japan is going to be a great challenge.  The two teams have contrasting styles, so this will be a great test for us, both offensively and defensively, to assess where we currently are."
