14 Athletes Move on to Second Cmnt Training Camp
(Toronto, Ont.) – 14 athletes successfully completed the first portion of Cadet Men’s National Team (CMNT) training camp at Humber College - North Campus today, and will move on to the second phase of training.
“We had a very talented group of athletes in this camp, which made for some tough decisions,” said head coach David DeAveiro. “These athletes have worked extremely hard over the past week and shown immense resolve. I’m confident in the athletes we’ve selected and look forward to our second stage of training.”
The list of 14 athletes moving on includes a significant number of returning national team participants. A full list of athletes and coaching staff is below.
Coach DeAveiro (McGill University) will lead the CMNT in the second phase of training camp from July 25-28, in preparation for the U17 FIBA World Cup in Dubai. The native of Toronto, Ont., is joined once again by assistants Barnaby Craddock of Abbotsford, B.C. and Stephan Barrie of Kingston, Ont.
“We’ve seen tremendous growth in the level of participation in this age group,” said Rowan Barrett, Executive Vice President/Assistant General Manager, Men’s High Performance. “This is evident by the more than 70 athletes that came to the open tryout and the 30 athletes that participated in the CMNT camp.”
