15U / 17U Girl's National Championship Conclude In Fredericton
FREDRICTON, NB (August 10, 2018) - The 2018 15U and 17U Women's National Championships concluded today in Fredericton with British Columbia earning the 15U championship over Ontario by a 65-56 margin, while Ontario captured the 17U championship over Quebec by a score of 67-56.
In the 15U tournament, Nova Scotia earned third place with a decisive 84-50 victory over New Brunswick. In the 17U matchup, British Columbia narrowly edged out Alberta in their bronze medal game, finishing the tournament with a slim 65-62 victory to earn third place in the tournament.

The National Championships are a stepping stone to Canada's national team program. A number of past participants have gone on to represent Canada internationally - most recently in this summer's FIBA U17 and U18 competitions.
All games will be played at the Richard J. Currie Center in Fredericton, NB. New Brunswick's finest fitness and event facility is also one of the best in North America. The five-storey, 139,000-square foot facility contains three full-sized gyms, an indoor track, state of the art Human Performance Lab and much more. With 180 parking spaces, private meeting rooms, a double-court gymnasium, and the beautiful Long Hall the Currie Center is ideal for large events.
Basketball New Brunswick last hosted the 15U and 17U Women's National Championships in 2012.
Last year, the 2017 15U Men's and Women's National Championships were held at the University of Regina (Centre for Kinesiology Health and Sport) in Regina, Saskatchewan from July 24-29, while the 17U National Championships were part of the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, MB. Team Ontario defeated Team Quebec 75-55 to capture the 15U championship, while at the Canada Summer Games, Team Quebec earned the 17U title with a 70-57 victory over Team Ontario.
