2017 Fiba U19 Women's World Cup Draw Finalized

TORONTO, ON - February 1, 2017 - FIBA announced the results the 2017 U19 Women's World Cup draw today in Udine, Italy. Team Canada was placed in Group C and will play Latvia, France, and Korea during the group stage. The tournament will run from July 22 - July 30 in Udine and Cividale del Friuli, Italy.

The World Cup competition will begin in group phase where Canada will compete against all teams in its group, followed by the Round of 16 where they will crossover to compete against a team in group D. The winners of the Round of 16 games advance to the Quarter-Finals, while the losers move on to the Classification Games for Places 9-16.

The Canadian squad qualified for the World Cup with a silver medal finish at the 2016 U18 FIBA America's Championship in Valdivia, Chile. Canada's girls program is currently ranked 4th in the world; with France ranked 3rd, Korea 16th, and Latvia 24th. The 13 other participating nations include: China, Mali, USA, and Italy (Group A); Puerto Rico, Russia, Egypt, and Spain (Group B); Hungary, Australia, Japan, and an Americas team to be announced (Group D).
