Andrew Wiggins and Aislinn Konig have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for the Week from January 24-30.
Named to his first NBA All-Star game as a starter for the Western Conference, Wiggins became just the third Canadian ever to be named an NBA All-Star. The 6’7” small forward had a strong week as well scoring 19p, 6r, 3a, and 2 steals per game shooting 54% from the field and 48% from 3PT. At the 2014 NBA draft, Wiggins was selected first overall, making him the second-ever Canadian in history to be selected in the top spot at an NBA draft. In his rookie season, Wiggins was recognized as the 2014-15 NBA Rookie of the Year and named to the All-Rookie 1st team. The Vaughan, ON native has represented Canada several times, most recently last summer at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2020 in Victoria, B.C.
In Castor’s win over Pepinster, "Ace" led the way with 27 points on 11/18 shooting, including five made three-pointers. The 5'9" guard from Langley, BC, played for North Carolina State (NCAA) where she had a successful college career, making it to the NCAA Sweet 16 twice and winning NC State's first ACC Championship in 29 years. Konig has represented Canada for over five years, earning bronze at the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in 2017 and most recently represented Canada with the Senior Women's National Team at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2021.
