On November 1, 1946, the Basketball Association of America later to become the NBA held its inaugural game on Canadian soil at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, ON. The Toronto Huskies faced-off against the New York Knickerbockers and the roster included two Canadians: Gino Sovarn, who had a short college career at the University of Detroit, and Hank Biasatti who spent some time at University of Windsor. The Huskies compiled a 22-38 win/loss record in their lone season.
Last week, the Toronto Raptors paid homage to the Huskies donning a throwback jersey in their 118-107 win over the NY Knicks, celebrating the 70th anniversary of what is considered the NBA's first game.
