Cadette Women’s National Team Announced
Canada Basketball is pleased to announce the 12 women who will don the Red and White of Team Canada at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Women in Cancun, Mexico. The 2012 edition of the Cadette Women’s National Team (CWNT) captured the bronze medal at last summer’s FIBA U17 World Championship for Women in Amsterdam.
"We are pleased and excited about our team for this summer,” said head coach Carly Clarke. “The athletes at our final camp showed up very prepared and that made the selection committee's decisions very challenging. We believe we have a strong team to be successful at the FIBA Americas tournament. We are having a great week of preparation and are looking forward to getting on the court in Mexico."
The CWNT, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the host-nation make up Group B in the tournament; Group A consists of the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina. Team Canada begins the five-day competition on Wednesday, June 19 versus Venezuela.
