WHAT IS THE CANADA BASKETBALL 50/50 DRAW?
The 50/50 raffle administered by Canada Basketball is a licensed raffle by the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario), where Ontario residents can purchase ticket(s) for the opportunity to win 50% of the total money raised through the sale of 50/50 tickets. Half of the jackpot (50%) will be donated to the Canada Basketball Foundation to be used to fund grassroots basketball programming for youth in Ontario.
HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS FOR PURCHASE?
$5.00 for 1 ticket, $10.00 for 10 tickets, $20.00 for 60 tickets, $50.00 for 200 tickets.

Online sales close at 11:59 PM ET on July 4th, 2021.

IS THERE A GUARANTEED AMOUNT THAT THE WINNING TICKET HOLDER WILL RECEIVE?
The winner of the final draw will take home at least $5000. Of course, the jackpot will grow as more tickets are purchased.
WHAT ARE THE EARLY BIRD PRIZES?
The first early bird prizes (June 25 at 11:59 PM ET) are 3 $200 Canada Basketball web-store gift cads. The guaranteed second early bird prizes (June 29 at 11:59 PM ET) are 3 $250 cash (Visa Gift Card). Tickets purchased in time for the early bird are also entered into the final draw.

DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN ONTARIO TO PLAY?
You do not need to live in the province of Ontario to purchase a 50/50 ticket but you do need to be physically located within the province of Ontario at the time of purchase of your online 50/50 ticket to be eligible to play.
WHY CAN I ONLY PLAY IN ONTARIO?
Lotteries and gaming in Canada is regulated provincially and therefore, with the Canada Basketball’s headquarters based in Toronto, we have been able to obtain a licence for Ontario only. This provincial regulation also explains why we will use 50% of the funds raised to support youth programs in Ontario.
WHERE DOES THE OTHER 50% OF THE JACKPOT GO?
Proceeds from this 50/50 draw will be used by the Canada Basketball Foundation to invest in grassroots programming for Ontario youth in the upcoming fall 2021/winter 2022 season (minus permitted program expenses related to running the raffle).
HOW IS THE WINNING NUMBER DRAWN?
The winning ticket will be selected by a Random Number Generation (RNG) system from all raffle numbers sold for each specific (early birds and final) draw.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING?
The odds of winning the Prize are based on the number of Tickets sold during an event.
IF I WIN AN EARLY BIRD – AM I STILL ELIGIBLE FOR THE MAIN DRAW?
Yes! If you win an early bird prize, your Numbers are still eligible for the main draw.
IF I WIN THE 50/50 DRAW - WILL I STILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR OTHER DRAWS IN THE FUTURE?
Absolutely!
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND OR RETURN POLICY?
All 50/50 Raffle Ticket sales (online or in-person) are final and may not be exchanged or refunded.
I PURCHASED A 50/50 TICKET BUT DIDN’T GET MY NUMBERS – WHAT DO I DO?
If you purchased your 50/50 ticket but did not receive your numbers, please contact marketing@basketball.ca and one of our staff will re-send you your raffle numbers.

If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to purchase online 50/50 tickets: Must be 18 years or older at the time of purchase. Must be located within the Province of Ontario or must not be a one of the following:

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I HAVE THE WINNING 50/50 NUMBER?
The winning 50/50 number will be drawn at the end of play on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 11:59 PM ET. Once the winning 50/50 number has been drawn, you can find it and the estimated prize amount displayed on all Canada Basketball social platforms and on basketball.ca.
WILL YOU CONTACT ME IF I HAVE THE WINNING 50/50 NUMBER?
The winning numbers for the 50/50 draw and early bird prizes will be announced on basketball.ca and all Canada Basketball affiliated social media platforms. The winning number will be contacted through phone and email.
IF I HAVE THE WINNING 50/50 NUMBER HOW DO I CLAIM MY PRIZE?
The winner must provide his/her name, address and telephone number with picture identification for the report sheet and send it to marketing@basketball.ca. Once the certified winner is verified, and provides identification with photo ID, they will be given a cheque in the amount of the declared prize which is, at a minimum 50% of total gross sales for that campaign. If the winner cannot provide photo ID, then the winning proceeds will be held for up to six (6) months from the date of the draw their ticket was purchased for to claim their prize.
WHAT HAPPENS IF NO WINNER COMES FORWARD?
If no winner comes forward the number will be announced repeatedly on our social media platforms, and posted to this website. In the event that no winner comes forward, the winning stub will be kept in a secure location and held for six (6) months. After that time period has elapsed the prize will be donated to a charity other than Canada Basketball, with the approval of the AGCO.
HOW DO I GET MY WINNINGS?
Prizes will be paid by cheque payable to the Winner, delivered within 30 days of verification of a Winning Ticket.
CAN SOMEONE CLAIM THE PRIZE FOR ME?
No. Only the original and eligible purchaser of the winning ticket may claim the prize.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH MY PURCHASE INFORMATION? IS THE TRANSACTION SECURE?
All transactions are secure and we do not receive or keep any credit card information.
WILL YOU PUBLISH MY NAME?
Not without your consent.
ARE MY PRIZE WINNINGS TAXABLE?
No. Raffle prizes awarded in Ontario are not taxable.
CAN I GET A TAX RECEIPT?
No. A purchase of a 50/50 ticket is not a donation and according to CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) Regulations, is not eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
WHAT CURRENCY DO I GET PAID IN?
All transactions and winnings are paid in Canadian Dollars. Prizes will be paid by cheque payable to the winner.
