TORONTO, Ont. (June 16, 2022) – Canada Basketball and The Keg, “Official Steakhouse and Bar Partner of Canada Basketball’s GLOBL JAM,” unveiled Thursday an exciting new partnership to celebrate the country’s next basketball stars this summer.

Set to take place in Toronto from July 5-10, GLOBL JAM will shine the international spotlight on the game’s rising stars and feature women’s and men’s teams from around the world competing in an Under-23 tournament live at Mattamy Athletic Centre and broadcast nationally on Sportsnet.

“This exciting new partnership with The Keg will assist our organization as we work to continue elevating the experience for our athletes and their families,” said Michael Bartlett, Canada Basketball President & CEO.  “For over 50 years, The Keg has been a place for Canadians across the country to get together.  In recreating that atmosphere at GLOBL JAM for our Team Canada family and friends, it is just one way for us to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the players and staff for proudly representing our country.”

Delivering a first-class viewing experience to catch the action throughout the tournament, The Keg Lounge will host Team Canada family members and alumni, as well as VIPs, stakeholders and guests.

In honour of The Keg’s 50th Anniversary, The Keg and Canada Basketball’s “What are you celebrating?” social media campaign will give access to the Lounge for several lucky fans throughout the tournament.  Additional contest information and details to be announced.

“As Canada’s home for celebrating moments, both big and small, we could not be more excited to help celebrate the future of Canadian basketball through the inaugural GLOBL JAM event and a year-long partnership with Canada Basketball,” said Jimmy duDomaine, The Keg’s Vice President of Marketing & Food Services.  “Basketball continues to gain popularity in terms of fandom and participation, especially amongst young Canadians, which makes this partnership a perfect fit for us as we look for new ways to connect with future generations of Keg guests.”

As the exclusive broadcast home of GLOBL JAM, Sportsnet’s coverage will feature in-game interviews and segments from The Keg Lounge throughout the tournament week on Sportsnet and SN NOW.

In the spirit of celebration, The Keg and Canada Basketball will also recognize significant player and team moments (i.e. birthdays, major wins, players getting drafted, etc.) across social media throughout the year.

Session passes (2 games) for GLOBL JAM are on sale now via Ticketmaster starting at $42.  Additional ticket information, along with schedule and volunteer opportunities, can be found at globljam.ca.
