Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe led the way for Canada in the decisive victory, scoring a game-high 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Benjamin Krikke and Luka Sakota also put up double-figure point totals, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. Gerry Abadiano led the way for the Philippines, scoring a team-high 19 points on the afternoon.
Canada came out on fire to begin the game, jumping out to an early scoring run and building up a quick double-digit lead. A dominant performance on the boards allowed the red and white to head into the second quarter with an impressive 26-7 advantage.
The Philippines found their footing on offence in the second quarter, more than doubling their scoring output from the previous frame. However, despite their efforts, Canada's Krikke would drop in nine first-half points to send Canada into halftime with a convincing 51-26 lead.
The third quarter was highlighted by Canada's ability to attack the basket. By getting to the rim, Canada, and Moncrieffe in particular, found themselves either earning easy baskets at the rim or getting chances at the free throw line as Canada went into the fourth quarter with a 77-46 lead.
The defence ramped up even further for the red and white in the final quarter of play, as Canada outscored the Philippines 25-16 in the final frame and went on to take the 102-62 victory.
