NASSAU, BAH (February 25, 2018) - Following a dominant victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands on Thursday, Canada returns to the court tonight as the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers continue.

Canada will conclude the second window versus Bahamas at 8:00 p.m. (EST) from the Kendal G. L. Isaacs National Gymnasium in Nassau.  For any Canadians in Bahamas, tickets are available for Sunday's game here or at the box office.  Fans back home in Canada can catch all the action streaming live on DAZN.

Despite a slow start on Thursday, Canada cruised to a 118-89 victory over U.S. Virgin Islands to improve to 2-1 in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers.  Click here for the box score.

Melvin Ejim made the most of his Americas Qualifiers debut as he went off for game high 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while Brady Heslip added 22 points on 6/13 shooting from beyond the arc.  Adika Peter-McNeilly and Aaron Best, both making their debut with the senior men's national team, scored nine points each in the victory.

Thursday's game was also the Canadian head coaching debut for Gordie Herbert, who currently coaches the Fraport Skyliners of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) in Germany.  Herbert is back on the Canadian bench for this window after serving as an assistant coach at the 2002 FIBA World Championship in Indianapolis.

Bahamas enters Sunday's contest still looking for their first win after falling to Dominican Republic 96-63 on Thursday night.  Despite a relatively equal first half, Dominican Republic pulled away in the third quarter to improve to 3-0.  Jaraun Burrows led Bahamas with 11 points, five assists, three blocks and two steals.

Sunday's contest will be the second and final meeting between the two teams after Canada opened the Americas Qualifiers with a dominant 93-69 win over Bahamas at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax back in November.

Following tonight's game, Canada's pursuit of a FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 berth will continue at home on Friday, Jun. 29 at 8:30 pm ET as Canada hosts Dominican Republic at Ricoh Coliseum. The team will then travel to The Arena at TD Place in Ottawa to conclude the first-round on Monday, Jul. 2 against U.S. Virgin Islands with tipoff scheduled for 1:30 pm ET.

Canada is in Group D along with Bahamas, Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Each team faces the other three teams on a home and away basis with the top three teams from each group advancing to the second round.
