Canada's interior defence led the way in the opening quarter, forcing the USA into difficult shots and allowing the red and white to jump out to an early 18-14 lead.
However, despite their strong first quarter defence, Canada fell behind early in the second quarter as the USA dominated the fast break and earned their way to the free throw line, ultimately heading into halftime with a 39-31 lead.
Canada began the third quarter with a strong run, but quickly cooled off behind the defence of the USA. The USA's offence continued to click throughout the frame, as they extended their lead to 64-40 heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter was much of the same, as the USA continued to execute and eventually earned the 84-60 victory and the gold medal.
