CLUJ-NAPOCA, Romania (March 4, 2020) - The stage is now set for the sixth edition of the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup after the 16 participating teams were drawn into groups in Wednesday's draw ceremony in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The teams were divided into four groups of four teams each for the 2020 event, with the hosts Romania drawn into Group D alongside China, France and Puerto Rico.
Group A: Italy, Canada, Korea, Egypt
Group B: Mali, USA, Australia, Spain
Group C: Lithuania, Russia, Japan, Chile
Group D: Romania, France, China, Puerto Rico
All teams will qualify for the Final Phase of the competition, with the single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards.

The defending champions USA will be aiming to capture their fifth title in the six editions of the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup since the biennial event was launched in 2010. Their dominance has only been interrupted by Australia, who lifted the trophy in 2016 after defeating Italy in the Final.
FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2020 will take place from August 15-23 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Media professionals registered in the FIBA Media Portal will be able to apply for this event as of Monday, July 13. The deadline to apply is Monday, August 10.
