BUCARAMANGA, Colombia (June 18, 2024) - Canada’s U18 Women’s National Team saw four players finish in double-digits as they got past Colombia 86-38 to go up 2-0 in group play.

Olivia Leung started things off in the first quarter, leading Canada to a 10-2 start after the game started at a slower pace. By the end of the first quarter, Canada led 17-4.

Leung finished the game with 10 points on 4-9 shooting. “With these being our first two games, I think there’s a lot to show with how much potential we have to be great,” said Leung. “There’s still tons of room to grow as a team, and I’m confident we’ll keep getting better until the job is done.”

Kamora Morgan opened up the second quarter with a three to give Canada a 20-4 lead. Morgan finished with 14 points on 50 percent shooting.

Meanwhile, Divine Tumba was everywhere. Tumba went on a 5-0 solo run, making a tough layup and an and-one floater to put Canada up 33-9.

By halftime, Canada has climbed to a 44-12 lead. They kept their foot on the gas pedal, maintaining a solid lead throughout.

“Whenever we jump out to a big lead, I think the main focus for us becomes being really good at the little things and finding spaces to be better,” said head coach Marlo Davis. “Just making sure we continue to keep our foot on the gas and play our way, which is fast and hard, sharing the basketball and rebounding at a high level.”

Canada will play their final group phase game tonight at 6:40 p.m. ET / 3:40 p.m. PT against the Dominican Republic. Fans can catch all the action live on FIBA's YouTube channel.
