Canada Tops Ecuador In Second Day Of FIBA Americas

ST. CATHARINES, ON (JUNE 11, 2018) - Team Canada's U18 team defeated Ecuador 115-75 on Monday morning during the second day of group play of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship tournament.

With the win, Canada earns their second straight victory of the tournament and improve to a 2-0 record as they look ahead to their matchup against Chile tomorrow evening.

Emanuel Miller: 22:48 minutes played, 63 FG%, 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists.

Canada pushed the pace against Ecuador early which resulted in a 10-point lead with 3 minutes left in the first quarter and a 37-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.   The fast paced play of Team Canada continued to hurt Ecuador in the second quarter, as Canada extended their lead from 18 to 26 going into the second half, leading 61-37.  Leading the way for Canada at the half was Emanuel Miller who had a 71% FG% resulting in 13 points, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 15 minutes played.

The second half started just as smoothly for Team Canada as they continued to run the floor against Ecuador and turn second chance opportunities into key baskets.  Going into the fourth quarter Canada led 97-55.  Canada continued to add on to their lead in the final quarter, taking the game 115-75.  Addison Patterson contributed 12 points in the fourth quarter to help fuel the offense for Team Canada and finish the game off strong.
