BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (June 5, 2024) - Three players finished in double-digits as Canada defeated Venezuela 89-53 at the FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup 2024.

Tristan Beckford finished with a team-high 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Justus Haseley and Olivier Rioux were the other two players who finished in double-digits with 10 points apiece.

Canada finished the first quarter 23-17, with Beckford leading the way at 7 points, knocking down a three-pointer in the first 10 minutes.

“It started on the defensive end, just getting back in transition hands up and being active, which caused the turnovers, and we replicated that energy on the offensive end,” said Beckford.

Canada forced Venezuela to turn the ball over 25 times, capitalizing off those turnovers to score in transition. By halftime, they were up 51-27.

Ramogi Nyagudi, Spencer Ahrens, and Jalen Rougier-Roane finished with nine points each.

Canada finishes group play with a 2-1 record and will play their quarter-final game on Friday, June 7 (Opponent TBD).
