Canada has qualified for the quarter-finals, but drew the gold medal favourites USA in the first quarter-final match in women's basketball.

Canada will need to have a big game in order to take down the number one ranked American basketball team. Canada has played extremely well so far this Olympics and have played each of their opponent to a close game, including top ranked teams like Australia and Russia.

The American team has dominated the tournament so far with a perfect record in the tournament. Through the preliminary stage, USA won each game by an average of 37 points.

The Americans attack is well balanced with Angel McCoughtry who averages 13 points, While Tina Charles averages 12.8 and Diana Taurasi averages 12.2. Tina Charles leads the Americans with 8.4 rebounds. Sue Bird averages 5.2 assists per match.

The game will be televised on TSN and tips-off at 9 a.m. EDT. The game will also be streamed on ctvolympics.ca.
