RANCAGUA, Chile (July 28, 2023) - Canada’s 3x3 U23 Women’s National Team had their best showing of the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League 2023 Americas thus far, narrowly falling 21-15 to the USA in the Stop 4 Final.

Canada was within one after a Carly Ahlstrom two-point shot trimmed the USA lead to 16-15 with just 3:04 remaining, but that was as close as the Canadian’s would come. USA proceeded to advantage of Canada’s foul trouble before scoring five-straight points at the line to ultimately win their fourth Stop of the event.

Ahlstrom had a team-high seven points, while Tara Wallack and Kiyara Letlow scored four points apiece for Canada in the Final, as Canada fell to 2-1 on the day following a pair of convincing group phase wins.

Earlier in the day, Canada defeated Chile 22-3, before getting past Puerto Rico 14-6 to punch their ticket to the Final for the second-straight stop.

Wallack was the Stop’s second-leading scorer, registering 17 points in three games, while Ahlstrom finished fourth with 15 of her own.

On the men’s side, after winning the Stop 3 Final on Wednesday, Canada was unable to make it back to the big game on Friday as a 1-1 group phase record held them back of reaching the Stop 4 Final.

In a rematch of Wednesday night, Canada fell 19-18 to Venezuela. It was heartbreak at the buzzer for Canada, as Yohann Sam’s potential game-winning two-pointer sailed long, allowing Venezuela to advance to the Final.

Canada opened the day with a dominant 20-13 win over USA, as Justin Ndjock-Tadjore led the way with a team-high eight points.
