They have plied their trade and honed their craft in South America and Europe, facing difficult competition with unfamiliar teams and have represented their country with success and dignity.

They have learned valuable lessons and gained significant experience and if you’re looking for the next wave of significant Canadian coaching talent, the glance needs go no further than Ryerson University.

Roy Rana, who has coached Canada Basketball’s cadets and juniors and is a fixture in the organization, runs the Ryerson men’s team, and Carly Clarke, who made a huge splash internationally by leading the under-17 women to a world championship bronze medal last month, guides the Ryerson women — as accomplished a duo as you’ll find in Canadian university basketball.
