Dani Reiss Foundation renews support of Canada Basketball with $1 Million Commitment to support coaching excellence and National Team priorities

TORONTO (Feb. 12, 2025) – Canada Basketball is proud to announce the renewal of a $1-million, four-year commitment from the Dani Reiss Foundation.

This transformative commitment will bolster the organization’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the performance of its national teams by investing in targeted coaching resources. The contribution reinforces Reiss’s long-standing dedication to the sport and his belief in basketball’s power to inspire and unite Canadians.

Chairman and CEO of Canada Goose, Reiss has been a steadfast supporter of Canada Basketball for years. His investments have helped elevate the program’s impact both on and off the court, helping Canada Basketball attract and retain world-class coaching while developing a pipeline of talent that consistently competes for and wins medals on the global stage.

Reiss will also join a select group of transformational philanthropists, in a newly formed Podium Council, designed to examine winning international basketball programs and mobilize public donations to support the resourcing of competitive advantages designed to propel Canada Basketball to sustained podium outcomes.

“This commitment goes beyond basketball—it’s about fuelling the power of sport to unite, transcend borders, and inspire greatness,” said Reiss, Chairman & CEO, Canada Goose. “Canada has world-class talent, and by investing in teams and leadership, we’re equipping our athletes with the tools they need to compete—and win—at the highest level. Playing on the global stage is an honor and an opportunity, helping to cement our place in the world. I’m proud to support Canada Basketball’s vision and excited to see how we can continue to bring people together through the game.”

This renewed commitment underscores Canada Basketball’s mission to ignite the basketball community’s pursuit of excellence and inspire inclusive basketball experiences that grow the sport.

By striving for high-performance results and growing participation through inclusivity, Canada Basketball aims to make a lasting impact both locally and internationally, as the leading nation in basketball competitions across the globe, and basketball as the sport of choice across the country.

“Canada Basketball is truly grateful for Dani and his unwavering support of our lofty ambitions,” said Michael Bartlett, President & CEO of Canada Basketball. “Dani knows that reaching podiums on the global stage requires a significant investment in resources, and his support continues to provide our programs with the capacity we need to compete with the best in the world. He also recognizes that basketball is uniquely positioned to be a sport that unites Canada, as the game represents the true mosaic of our nation. We hope his generosity can be a catalyst for others who align with our ambitions for the game and the country.”

Reiss’s renewed investment will primarily support coaching resources, ensuring Canada Basketball continues to provide exceptional leadership to its athletes while connecting Canada’s evolving style of play across the national team system. This commitment aligns with Canada Basketball’s winning ambition to be the best in the world, and the best for Canada.

The renewed support comes at an exciting time as Canada Basketball builds on recent success and prepares to announce significant coaching appointments in the coming months. This partnership not only sets a strong foundation for the year ahead but also reflects the momentum driving Canada Basketball’s mission to lead and grow the sport nationwide.
