Day 3 wraps up pool play and placements for the 15U and 17U playoffs!

15U Men's Recap - Day 3

Quebec came away with an exciting come from behind victory over Ontario in double overtime. Ontario held the lead for most of the game up until the closing moments when Sidney Gauthier hit a running 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. Ontario held the lead in the final minutes of the first overtime, but with 14 seconds left on the clock, Gauthier hit another 3-pointer to tie the game and take it to a second overtime. In the extra frame, Quebec took the lead and maintained it with clutch free throw shooting to close out the game 99-95.

Leading scorers for Quebec were Gauthier, 31, Trenton Dias Maxwell, 25, and Malachi Joseph Alexander, 17. Leading the way for Ontario were Luka Sakota, 38 and Justice Prentice, 13. Top rebounders for Quebec were Gauthier, 17 and Maxwell, 12. Top rebounders for Ontario were Prentice, 7 and Ben Shoveller, 6.

Manitoba defeated British Columbia 60-56 (Manitoba's top scorer: Donald Stewart, 16; top rebounder: Terrel Jordan, 9; British Columbia's top scorer: Payton Lum, 14; top rebounders: Victor Radocaj and Payton Lum, 5 each).

Nova Scotia beat the Territories 103-32 (Nova Scotia's top scorer: Caleb Johnson, 26; top rebounder: Spencer Noel, 10; Territories top scorer: Felix Flamand, 8; top rebounder: Jesse Tobac, 6).

Alberta won over Prince Edward Island 80-49 (Alberta's top scorer: Holt Tomie, 13; top rebounder: Ben Krikke, 11; Prince Edward Island's top scorer: Ian Kerr, 14; top rebounder: Logan McCallum, 8).

Quarter final action starts on Day 4 with Saskatchewan competing against Newfoundland at 11:15am, New Brunswick versus Nova Scotia at 3:45pm, Ontario against Alberta at 6:00pm, and Quebec versus Manitoba at 8:15pm. British Columbia will play Prince Edward Island at 1:30pm for placing. All games will be held at the Duckworth Centre court.

17U Men's Recap - Day 3

Ontario opened the day with a hard fought win over British Columbia.  In the first quarter, Ontario came out strong, leading 18 to 15. With four and half minutes left in second quarter, Ontario hit a 3-pointer, pushing their lead to six points. In the closing moments of the half, British Columbia went on a run, gaining a narrow 34 to 33 lead. Ontario came out firing to open the second half, pulling ahead 50-48 late in the third quarter. With three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Ontario took control of the game, pushing the lead to double digits. British Columbia closed the gap but it was too little too late as they conceded victory to the Ontario side, 69-58.

Leading scorers for Ontario were Khaleem Bennett, 21; Jaden Bediako, 14 and Joel Brown, 11. British Columbiaâ??s leading scorers were Grant Shephard, 18; Mason Bourcier and Cameron Morris, 14 each. The top rebounder for Ontario was Bediako, 9 and for British Columbia was Shephard, 12.

Alberta defeated Prince Edward Island 73-65 (Alberta's top scorer: Alex Jap, 26; top rebounder: Jap, 14; Prince Edward Island's top scorer: Alexander Campbell, 26; top rebounder: Campbell, 8).

Newfoundland outscored New Brunswick 81-76. Newfoundland's top scorer: Emanuel Ring Lual, 29; top rebounder: Ring Lual, 16; New Brunswick's top scorer: Matt Baker, 16; top rebounder: James French, 7).

Saskatchewan overpowered the Territories 112-74 (Saskatchewan's top scorer: Jaâ??shon Henry, 31; top rebounder: Alexander Dewar, 10; Territories top scorer: Ryan Hindson, 19; top rebounder: Hindson, 11).

Continuing on to Day 4, Prince Edward Island will play New Brunswick at 11:15am for placement. Quarter final action will see Quebec battle Manitoba at 1:30pm, Nova Scotia compete against Saskatchewan at 3:45pm, British Columbia play Newfoundland at 6:00pm, and Ontario take on Alberta at 8:15pm. All games will be played in the True North RecPlex court.
