TORONTO, ON – The Development Men’s National Team lost a tight contest to the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kansas, 87-76.

Canada’s efforts were led by Adika Peter-McNeilly, who scored 15 points on 5-9 shooting with three 3s. Wayne Selden was the Kansas standout, pouring in 22 points with 10 rebounds. For full box score, click here.

The Development Men’s National Team clawed back from a 11-4 hole in the first quarter, orchestrating a 17-9 run over the final five minutes of the period. Canada held a 21-20 advantage after 10 minutes.

They would carry the momentum into the second quarter. Canada was clicking on both ends and grabbed their largest lead of the game at the 3:54 mark of the period after a Caleb Agada tip-in made it 35-25. Kansas would rally and Canada held a 40-36 lead going into the locker room.

Kansas, who will represent the USA at the FISU Games, exchanged leads throughout the quarter with Canada. Neither team could create separation and Canada held a 60-58 lead with one quarter left.

The back-and-forth trend would continue until the five-minute mark, where Kansas would pull away. Canada’s offence could not keep pace with the Jayhawks and the host team would win 87-76.

Now, Canada will travel to Korea to compete in the FISU Games.
