Development Women Defeat Portugal 56-45 At 29th Summer Universiade
TAIPEI CITY, TAIWAN (August 21, 2017) - The Development Women's National Team defeated Portugal 56-45 on Monday afternoon in their opening game of pool play at the 29th Summer Universiade.
Paige Crozon led Canada with a game-high 16 points and six rebounds, while Ceejay Nofuente added nine points. Alex Kiss-Rusk dominated the glass for Canada, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with six points.

After trailing Portugal 28-22 at the half, Canada put on a clinic at both ends of the court in the third quarter, outscoring Portugal 22-8 to take a 44-36 lead into the fourth quarter. Canada's lock down defence would continue in the fourth as they limited Portugal to just nine points in the final frame, en route to a 56-45 victory.

The Summer Universiade is a biennial international multi-sport event open to competitors who are at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as of January 1 in the year of the Games. Participants must be full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, CEGEP) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the event.
