TORONTO, ON (June 22, 2017) - Dillon Brooks was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on Thursday night.
The Mississauga, Ont. native became the 13th Canadian selected since 2011.
A six-foot-seven forward, Brooks is headed to the pros after a sensational junior season at the University of Oregon where he averaged 16.1 points per game while shooting 48% from the field and 40% on three-point attempts. He was named Pac 12 Player of the Year and made the All-Conference First Team for the 2016-2017 season, after being named a 3rd Team All-American in 2016 by The Sporting News.
Brooks has represented Canada on a number of occasions. In 2015, he was part of the silver medal-winning team at the Pan American Games in Toronto. Brooks also represented Canada at the 2015 FIBA U19 Men’s World Championship in Heraklion, Greece and was the top scorer at the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men in Colorado Springs, USA.

Canada currently has the 2nd most players of any country on NBA rosters, trailing only the United States.
