Howard Kelsey Awarded The Governor General's Visit Medallion

Mexico City, December 3, 2012-Howard Kelsey was one of sixteen distinguished citizens awarded The Governor General’s Visit Medallion on Saturday, December 01 at The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City by His Excellency, The Right Honorable Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, during his working visit to Mexico, where he represented Canada at the inauguration of Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United Mexican States.

The Governor General’s Visit Medallion is awarded as recognition to extraordinary contributions to Canada-Mexico relations. Included in the medallion awardees were former Canadian Ambassador to Mexico, David Winfield and former Mexican Secretary of Finance Pedro Aspe G.

The Governor General expressed his thanks for Mr. Kelsey’s lifetime effort to represent and promote Canada in Mexico. ‘[Mr. Kelsey’s] promotion of sports, teamwork and cultural exchange has brought our two countries closer together. [Howard] has been a true friend to Canada and I thank [him] for what he does,’ he expressed.
