Highlighting the past week of Canadian excellence in the NCAA

 Jordan Bachynski (Calgary, AB) Sr. Forward- Arizona State Sun Devils

Jordan Bachynski was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for this week. The 7’2 senior out of Calgary, AB posted 17 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks in an overtime win against Oregon State. In that very same game, he had a buzzer-beating block to secure the victory. The following game versus Oregon, he had a career-high 26 points, and almost had a triple double with 9 rebounds and 9 blocks. His 16 total blocks over the weekend made him the Pac-12 career record holder with 288 blocks over the course of his career.

 Ruth Hamblin (Houston, BC) Soph. Forward- Oregon State Beavers

The BC native seems to just produce game after game. Against Michelle Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) and the Utah Utes, Hamblin managed yet another double-double on her season. She finished the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. The sophomore center continues to be a consistent contributor and looks to continue her good play into Friday’s game versus UCLA.

Melvin Ejim (Toronto, ON) Sr. Forward- Iowa State Cyclones

The past 7 days has been a career week for the senior out of Toronto, ON. Not only did Melvin Ejim set a career high in points, he also broke the Big 12 scoring record with 48 points on Saturday. He also added another career-high of18 rebounds in the big win over TCU. Ejim is solidifying himself as one of the top players in his conference, as he set or tied 10 Big-12 single game records that game. The senior forward is averaging 30.5 points and 15.7 rebounds over the past three games.

Kim Pierre-Louis (Ottawa, ON) Jr. Forward- UMass Minutewomen

Last Saturday, the junior forward out of Ottawa, ON recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds. Although it was not the best game for the UMass faithful, Pierre-Louis did everything in her power to get the Minutewomen back into it. They will look to bounce back Wednesday night against George Mason.

Nik Stauskas (Mississauga, ON) Soph. Guard- Michigan Wolverines

By now, most are aware that Nik Stauskas is the real deal. We know he can score, we know that he is a deadly offensive weapon.  What was surprising is how well he faired against arguably one of the best perimeter defenders in the NCAA, Aaron Craft. He scored 15 points on the game, helping his squad claw back from a big deficit, showing great poise and leadership, so much so that you could see it in his younger teammates. Michigan continues their impressive season and look to keep it up against Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon.

 Katherine Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) Sr. Forward- Marquette Golden Eagles

Katherine Plouffe returned to great form last night, recording her ninth double double on the season. The Edmonton, AB native finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the bout. Along with some exceptional play from her teammates, Plouffe has been a cornerstone for this Marquette squad will hope to continue playing well into their game versus Xavier on Saturday.
