Andrew Wiggins (Thornhill, ON) Freshmen Forward- Kansas Jayhawks

The most hyped Canadian player in history is really starting to get it going. He is consistent in the sense that he will make the timely shot when his team needs it most. Well that was the case last night when Wiggins grabbed a wild rebound at the death and put in the buzzer-beating game winner. The freshman forward of Thornhill, ON finished the game with 19 points, none bigger than his last two, and 6 rebounds to help his team to the 64-63 win against Texas Tech.

Michelle Plouffe (Edmonton, AB) Senior Forward- Utah Utes

The Edmonton, AB native was on fire this week in the NCAA. In two heart-breaking losses for the Utah Utes, there was one bright spot to be optimistic about. Michelle Plouffe registered a career-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a Pac-12 showdown with Washington State. In her following game versus Washington, Michelle matched that career-high and grabbed 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds tied her with the school record of 1, 106, which she will look to break in the Utes’ next game.

Kenny Chery (Montreal, QC) Junior Forward- Baylor Bears

Kenny Chery made Baylor history Saturday night. In a thrilling 2-OT win versus Kansas State, the Montreal, QC native finished with only the sixth triple-double in Baylor Bears history. Chery had 20 points in the game and also hit new career-highs of 12 assists and 10 rebounds. His Canadian teammate, Brady Heslip of Burlington, ON hit a game-tying three at the end of regulation to send it to OT, where Chery could continue to go to work and lead the Bears to a 87-73 victory.

Nirra Fields (Montreal, QC) Sophmore Guard- UCLA Bruins

The Montrealer finished with nearly a triple-double on Monday night against Oregon. She was the second leading scorer for the Bruins, and with a final line of 26 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals- it was clear that the Bruins would cruise to a blowout victory. Don’t miss Nirra Fields and the Bruins when they take on CAL on Friday night.

Tyler Ennis (Brampton,ON) Freshman Guard- Syracuse Orange

Ennis has been the centerpiece to a prolific undefeated season, with a record of 25-0 so far.  Last Wednesday versus Pitt, with 4.4 seconds left to play, the 19-year old hit a 35-footer to steal the victory for the Orange. He continues to prove that he is poised beyond his years, as his draft stock continues to rise exponentially. Ennis finished that game with 13 points, 5 assists and 2 rebounds. On Saturday, the Orange were involved in a yet another game that went down to the wire. In 56-55 win over NC State, Ennis finished with a respectable 9 points and 6 assists, but more importantly contributed the intangibles that continues to bring Syracuse success.

Natalie Achonwa (Guelph, ON) Senior Forward- Notre Dame Fighting Irish

It was senior night at Notre Dame on Monday, as three seniors on the Fighting Irish were recognized. The Canadian national anthem was sung in honour of the graduating Achonwa, and she did not disappoint on this night. After a slow start, shooting 1-3 from the floor and 1-5 from the line, Achonwa poured in 18 of her 21 points in the second half to help secure the 87-72 victory over Georgia Tech. With the win, Notre Dame now sits at 25-0, and looks to grab another one tomorrow night against Wake Forest.
