Cassandra Brown (Vernon, British Columbia) Senior Guard/Forward – Portland Pilots
The senior from Vernon had a fantastic week for the Pilots. Even though Portland lost both their games this past week against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount, Cassandra was a bright spot. Throughout the week she averaged 22.5 PPG and 6.0 RPG with a 50% shooting percentage from behind the arc. Her best game came against Loyola Marymount when she scored 26 points with 6 rebounds, a block and a steal all while shooting 56% from downtown. With two losses by four points, the Pilots and Cassandra hope to steer the plane in the right direction against Pacific on Thursday.
Ruth Hamblin (Houston, British Columbia) Junior Center – Oregon State Beavers
Ruth continues to be consistent in the middle for the Beavers this season. Against Arizona State and Arizona, Oregon was able to stay undefeated at home while Ruth averaged 12.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 4.5 BPG. Her monstrous game of the week was against Arizona State where she netted 17 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 6 blocks and 2 assists in a 70-64 Beavers’ win. Ruth and Oregon State head on the road against Colorado on Friday night and hope to stay in the win column.
Dakota White (Ajax, Ontario) Junior Guard – Wisconsin Badgers
Dakota had a very dynamic week this past week in the Big Ten. Through two games against Minnesota and Nebraska, Dakota managed to average 16.0 PPG together with 7.5 APG, 2.0 SPG and a 55% 3-point field goal percentage. She shined the brightest against Minnesota when she racked up a double-double – 20 points, 10 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. After going 0-2 on the week, Dakota and the Badgers look to get a victory at home against Maryland on Thursday.
Kyle Wiltjer (Portland, Oregon) Junior Forward – Gonzaga Bulldogs
Kyle and the Zags keep rolling through the WCC and this week was no different. Gonzaga beat Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine as Kyle averaged 17.0 PPG and 8.0 RPG to go along with a 50% field goal percentage. His highlight game of the week was against Loyola Marymount where he got a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds together with a 57% 3-point percentage and a block. The #3 Bulldogs look to keep climbing up the rankings against Pacific on Thursday night.
Kevin Thomas (Ajax, Ontario) Junior Forward – Troy Trojans
The Ajax native, Kevin, had a solid week. In two losses against South Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette, Thomas pulled off double-doubles in both games averaging 12.5 PPG, 12.0 RPG and 2.0 APG with a 53% shooting percentage. Thomas’ best game of the week was against Louisiana-Lafayette where he scored 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. On Thursday night, Troy and Kevin look to get on the right page against Georgia-Southern and pick up a win.
Dyshawn Pierre (Whitby, Ontario) Junior Forward – Dayton Flyers
Dynamic Dyshawn has been on a tear this whole season and this week continued the trend. Against Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure, Dyshawn averaged a double-double - 11.5 PPG with 12.0 RPG. He shined the brightest against St. Bonaventure when he notched 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. Dyshawn and his Flyers will look to break into the top-25 when they go up against St. Joseph’s on Thursday night.
