Nine Canadians Selected To Participate In 2nd Annual Basketball Without Borders All-star Camp

NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2016 - The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today announced the top 53 boys and girls from 27 countries who will travel to Toronto for the second annual Basketball without Borders (BWB) Global Camp.  There will be a heavy Canadian contingency at the camp.

Four boys and five girls will participate and represent Canada at the camp:

The campers will attend the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, State Farm NBA All-Star Saturday Night, and the 65th NBA All-Star Game at Air Canada Centre.

2015 two-time gold medalist and WNBA Indiana Fever Natalie Achonwa and Minnesota Timberwolves and men's national team assistant coach, Bryan Gates, will be serve as a BWB global coaches.

The camp will be held Feb. 12-14 at Mattamy Athletic Centre as part of NBA All-Star 2016, the first NBA All-Star to be held outside of the United States, and Nike will serve as the official partner.

Canada Basketball will be running a Coach School in conjunction with the 2016 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp. The 25 attending coaches will be given the opportunity to observe the BWB skill development sessions lead by NBA coaches, and the BWB camp scrimmages. Coaches will also take part in coach education discussions lead by our national team athletes and coaches.
