OFFICIAL WEBSITE LAUNCHED FOR FIBA AMERICAS WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Event media accreditation to open June 1, 2015

TORONTO, ON – Today Canada Basketball and the International Basketball Federation in the Americas (FIBA Americas) launched the official website for the FIBA Americas Women’s Championship taking place in Edmonton, AB from August 9 – 16.

From event details, news to tip-off countdown clock, fibaamericas.com/can2015 will provide all the up-to-date information leading up to and throughout the 10-day tournament. The official event hashtag is #FIBAAmericasWomen2015.

Tickets for the event will be launched later this month and will be available online on Ticketmaster.

The media accreditation process for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship will begin on June 1 with the application deadline on August 5. Applications will be completed on online. More information on the accreditation process, as well as media accommodation details, to be announced in the coming weeks. The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Women will be held at the Saville Community Sports Centre on the University of Alberta Campus, the official training facility of the Women’s National Team. Ten teams from the FIBA Americas zone will participate in the tournament in the hopes of qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This is the second time Canada has played host to this event – the first time being in Hamilton, Ontario in 1995, where Canada took the Gold.
