Senior Men’s National Team Plans Strong 2014 Schedule

SENIOR MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM PLANS STRONG 2014 SCHEDULE

11 exhibition games in Europe this summer

Toronto, ON - Canada Basketball has announced  the Senior Men’s National Team (SMNT) will be travelling to Europe this summer for a series of 11 exhibition games against some of the best basketball nations.

As part of the tour, the SMNT will play against Spain, Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia and Angola ranked #2, 7, 11, 13 and 15 respectively.

Head coach Jay Triano will bring the team together for three-day practice session from July 20 to 22 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ont. Following the camp, the SMNT team will embark on the European tour.  

“I’m looking forward to getting the team together for what will be a summer of development and growth,” said Triano. “Getting more international experience will be key – we want to provide our players with quality in-game experience against some of the world’s top talent.”

“This summer is an important step in the development of the SMNT for its goal of reaching Rio 2016.”

The practice session roster will be announced mid-July.

July 20-22 – Practice sessions in Toronto
July 24-August 12 - Europe exhibition series

Media credentials for the practice sessions will be issued at a later date.
