Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nirra Fields have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for the week of November 1-7.
Gilgeous-Alexander had a spectacular week, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA) to a 2-1 record including a big win against the Los Angeles Lakers on the road. The Hamilton, ON native is averaging 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assist and shooting 44% from the 3 point line per game over the week, with a steal and a block per game. The 6’3” guard was drafted 11th overall at the 2018 NBA Draft, the 22-year-old previously represented Canada in 2016 at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Chile where he helped win a silver medal.
Fields scored 18 points while adding 6 rebounds and 7 assists in Izmit’s (KBSL - Turkey) loss to Bursa.Fields attended UCLA (NCAA) for college and played one season with the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) before playing in Europe. The 5”7’ guard has played over 100 games for Team Canada, most recently competing with the Senior Women’s National Team this past summer at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2021 and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
