The evening begins with the Future Prospects Game which will see the eighth-grade age-group of Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy showcase their talents and skills in an intrasquad scrimmage. The Junior Academy, an Ontario pilot program currently in its first year, is an extension of Canada Basketball’s Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS) Program.

The Red and White contest will immediately follow with a scheduled tip-off time of 7:30 p.m. At the conclusion of this game, fans will have a chance to meet some of the best under-19 players in the country.

Canada Basketball’s assistant general manager and executive vice-president of the Senior Men’s Program, Rowan Barrett, sees the intrasquad match as an excellent opportunity for fans to see the future of the sport in Canada. “This game is our chance to bring-in our fans and thank them for their support. We want the sports community in this country to be involved with Canada Basketball and be inspired by the stories of the junior men’s team. The close quarters of Kerr Hall will let our fans get up-close and personal with this amazing group of young men.”

While this game is meant as a showcase of Canada’s crop of talented athletes, it will also help the JMNT prepare for this summer’s FIBA U19 World Championship for Men in the Czech Republic. The prestigious tournament in Prague will begin June 27 and wrap-up on July 7.
