Thérèse Quigley Announces Her Retirement From a Storied Career in Canadian Athletics

Thérèse Quigley, former President and Board Member of Canada Basketball and one of the most respected  athletic leaders in all of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) - announced her retirement yesterday as Western University’s Director of Sports and Recreation Services effective December 31, 2016.

"Thérèse’s thoughtful stewardship of Canada Basketball through a critical transition period laid the foundation for the organization’s revitalization and growing success in recent years," said Wayne Parrish, Co-Chair, Canada Basketball, Board of Directors.

Quigley began serving on the board of the national sport federation in 2004 and took on the role as President from 2008 to 2011.

“She was a fantastic Canada Basketball Board member who was extremely supportive of staff and actively engaged in Board business,” said Denise Dignard, Director, Women’s High Performance. “As an AD, I remember seeing her get to know all of the athletes personally and was very active in her role.  I’ve always considered her a highly respected and amazing role model for females in sport management.”
