U17 Men Beat Australia 88-53 in the Second Game of Exhibition Play in France

Toulouse, France (June 16, 2016)- Canada's U17 Men's team trumped over Australia after a touch loss yesterday to France in overtime. Canada was strong from start to finish never giving Australia a chance to close the gap.

"Our defense was a major factor to tonight's win. We did a much better job protecting the paint defensively. Offensively we shared the ball and limited our turnovers. I am proud of our bench production tonight."

Starting for Canada were Danilo Djuricic, Noah Kirkwood, Grant Shephard, Andrew Nembhard, and Ignas Brazdeikis. Click here for full team roster.

Stefan Smith had the game high scoring 16 pts, right behind him with 13 pts was Grant Shephard. Jaden Bediako also dominated with boards with 7 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play.

In the first quarter the Canadians got a slight advantage over Australia leading 25-15. Stefan Smith and Grant Shepard could not be stopped both ending the quarter scoring 7 points. Australia struggled to put it in the hoop and had no players score over 4 points.

Canada pulled away in the second quarter. Canada shot 59% while Australia trailed only scoring 33% from the field. Rebounds were still close in the second, Canada only out rebounded Australia by two, 21-23. The quarter finished in favour of Canada 52-25.

Canada kept their momentum strong throughout the 3rd quarter sharing the ball with over 5 different players scoring over 2 points. Australia won the quarter in defensive rebounds grabbing 26 to Canada's 24.  

Quincy Guerrier lead Canada in the fourth, scoring 8 points in 7 minutes of play. While Australia struggled only scoring a total of 12 points. The final score was 88-53 for Canada.
