VALDIVIA, CHILE -- The U18 Men's National Team is off to the U18 FIBA Americas finals after beating Puerto Rico 83-66.

Lindell Wigginton led Canada in scoring, dropping 22 points on 8-16 shooting with three three-point shots made. O'Shae Brissett continued his strong tournament play with 18 points and eight rebounds. For full box score, click here.

"This young group has come together very quickly and represented Canadian basketball by playing the right way. It is always special to have an opportunity to play for gold. We will be prepared and continue to give it all we have," said head coach Roy Rana.

Canada's defence keyed a strong opening quarter. Seven Puerto Rican turnovers resulted in 10 fast break points and the Canadians shot 60% in the quarter. After ten minutes of action, the U18 Men's National Team led 20-9.

Offensive execution was the story of the second. Canada settled in and moved the ball to breakdown the defence, resulting in shots around the basket and fouls drawn. Puerto Rico held their own until the final three minutes, where Canada held them to three points. The Canadians led 45-28 at the half.

The two sides traded buckets through a third quarter that did not see much offence. Neither team could find the bottom of the net on jump shots, with most points coming off offensive putbacks or free throws. After three quarters, Canada led 64-47.

Puerto Rico started the fourth quarter on a 9-4 run, prompting a Canadian timeout. Following the break, the U18 Men's National Team steadied and took control of the game. Team Canada saw out the result, winning the game 83-66.
