TORONTO (June 27, 2025) — Canada Basketball announced the U19 Men’s National Team roster ahead of the FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2025.
The FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2025 is set for June 28 to July 6 in Lausanne, Switzerland and features the best 16 teams in the world. All the action will be streaming live on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
Canada is in Group B with China (Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 am ET / 5:00 am PT), Slovenia (Sunday, June 29 at 5:15 am ET / 2:15 pm PT) and Germany (Tuesday, July 1 at 8:30 am ET / 5:30 am PT).
All 16 teams participating in the event will advance to the competition's Final Phase with a single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards.
The team trained at Humber College in Toronto from June 15–19, before travelling to France for a series of exhibition games ahead of the World Cup.
Canada has been no stranger to the podium in recent renditions of the tournament. Canada’s historic gold medal at the tournament in 2017 served as the country’s first gold medal in an international FIBA competition. R.J. Barrett’s 38 points helped Canada to a 99-87 semifinal victory over the United States, before defeating Italy 79-60 in the gold medal game.
Led by the likes of Zach Edey, Ryan Nembhard and Caleb Houstan, Canada won its second-ever medal at a U19 Men’s World Cup in 2021. Canada defeated Serbia 101-92 in the bronze medal game, bookending a tournament in which they went 6-1 en route to the podium.
Canada is looking to improve upon a seventh-place finish at the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023.

Canada is currently ranked 10th overall in the FIBA men’s age-group rankings, presented by Nike.
