U19 Women's National Team Falls 95-40 To USA In Exhibition Action

(TORONTO, ON) – The U19 Women’s National Team dropped their second game of exhibition play, losing 95-40 to the USA.

“The Americans came out and were aggressive right from the get-go, taking the ball to the rim and scoring in transition. At no point in the game did we match their competitive level,” said Head Coach Rich Chambers.

“On a positive note, Bridget Atkinson had an extremely good second half.”

Daneesha Provo played well in the loss, scoring a team-high 13 points. Bridget Carleton chipped in 10 points. Napheesa Collier led the Americans with 19 points. For full box score, click here.

The United States grabbed the advantage early, opening the game with a 26-7 first quarter. In the next period, Canada would increase their scoring a bit, with 9 but the US scored 26 again to maintain a significant lead.

It was more of the same in the second half. The US scored at an efficient clip and Canada could not match their offensive output. The Americans led 74-27 after three quarters and won the game 95-40.

Canada will regroup and play Australia tomorrow in their final game ahead of the FIBA U19 Women’s World Championships.
